EU Takes Action: CSDDD Approved!

Belgian Presidency Council of the EU 2024

Exciting News! The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) has been approved by the Council of the EU, marking a significant milestone in corporate sustainability. EU Member States have given the green light to an updated text on the CSDDD after several postponements. This directive mandates corporate human rights and environmental due diligence across the EU.

The approved text brings important changes, including an expansion of the directive’s scope to companies with 1000 employees and a turnover of at least EUR 450 million. Different timeframes for application will apply, with larger companies required to comply earlier.

Although the number of companies falling under the scope has decreased, this legislation represents a major step forward in promoting corporate responsibility. With various sustainability regulations already in place, companies are urged to implement sustainable procurement practices and due diligence processes promptly.

At Prewave, we’re proud to provide tools to help companies achieve supply chain due diligence, efficient risk analysis, and reporting, facilitating compliance with these regulations.
